We all know that the most important thing is to stay in the present. To be in the moment, to feel the present, to enjoy the present. But we all have so many distractions. We’re constantly trying to control everything, including ourselves.
The difference between happiness and contentment, like contentment is the key to successful living, is that happiness is a state of mind. Not being happy is like being in a car accident. You can’t do anything about the accident, but you can do plenty about your feelings of loss and what you feel like is an inevitable result of the accident. In the same way, happiness is like an accident that happens to you.

So what do we do? Well, if we are happy in the beginning, then we must be happy inside. But if we are just happy in the last stage, then we must stop and think about what is happening inside.
People are often so busy worrying about what’s happening inside that they forget to take care of themselves. We’re all too busy worrying about what’s happening outside.
Well, as humans we are all too busy to take care of ourselves. But one way to help ourselves is to take care of our surroundings. The more we take care of ourselves the less we need to think about our problems. So the solution to the problem of caring for yourself is to take care of your surroundings. If you can, you can become happier.
